Summary

The unit is subdivided into six topics, expected to be taught across roughly six weeks of lessons, plus a test, in order to fit with most school timetables. It is a theoretical unit covering the relevant sections of the AQA AS Level Computer Science specification. The unit is designed to allow AS students to be taught at the same time as students taking the full A Level.

Six topics in this unit cover data representation of numbers, text, images and sound, with the final topic explaining and giving examples of the uses of data compression and encryption. The beautifully illustrated PowerPoint slides, interactive style of the lesson plans, challenging and imaginative worksheets and graded examples in the homework will all help to ensure the class is fully engaged.

What's included in the toolkit?

What people say...

I received your sample copy today and took the opportunity to show it [to my outgoing] A2 students.

They said they liked the Layout and use of colour – compatible with the other textbooks they like, and they quickly found the Edward Snowden and NSA sections and were very engaged in the opposing arguments on each.

I liked the use of pseudo-code.

Juan Alvarez Zafra. Mathematics and Computing Department, St Brendan’s College

I have found the sample resources to be such high quality and exactly what I am looking for.
