Summary 

This unit covers entity relationship modelling, with particular focus on the steps involved in normalisation. SQL statements for the retrieval of data are covered in the third topic with reference to DDL and DML in defining and updating tables. The concept of deadlock is also covered. Finally, common software development models are described. Some practical database activities are based around Microsoft Access.
